"It's All About That Bass, 'bout That Bass..."

As Meghan Trainor so beautifully put it, have a look at this video of electric bassist Victor Wooten playing in what appears to be a dodgy gazebo in the rain.

Perhaps known best for his slappin', Victor accompanies himself using various loops, playing a stunning version of Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely".  Take 7.30 mins out of your busy schedule and enjoy!

Deck The Halls!!!

We had an Albert ball...

Last night combo entertained the masses at Nottingham's Albert Hall, between the NYTO/NYIO and NYO concert.

The programme included the likes of 'On Broadway', 'Theme from Starsky and Hutch', 'Never Can Say Goodbye' and the newest piece in the repertoire 'Little Sunflower', the tune on which Zoe Rahman recently based her combo workshop around.

We've already received some great comments via email and twitter:

"When I thought the day can't get any better the Jazz group started playing, brilliant  " - Kate Pound

"Their music  began the evening with a lovely relaxed swing after a very busy day" - Rosemary Bolton

Ben Sharples - A Rising Star!

Great news from the Sharples household this week.  Ben received notification from ABRSM informing him that he has won the "Nellie Greenhill Memorial Prize".  This award is for achieving the highest mark in Grade 8 Piano out of all the entries in the Nottingham area for the year ending September 2014.

Ben will also have his name published in the ABRSM annual review for 2014.

Well done Ben - NYJO is very proud!!!
