Tony Kofi - NYJO’s Patron
NYJO are delighted and honoured to have Tony Kofi as patron. Born in Nottingham, Tony is a multi-award winner including Best Instrumentalist at the 2008 BBC Jazz Awards, Best Ensemble at the 2005 Parliamentary Jazz Awards and winner of Album of the Year 2005 in the annual BBC Radio 3 Jazz Line Up awards.
Tony is a regular performer at local gigs organised by promoters such as Jazz Steps, both with his own bands (click here for albums) or as a member of groups such as the Basil Hodge Quintet.
Despite a very busy schedule, that includes playing internationally with the World Saxophone Quartet - Tony looks forward to taking a keen interest in NYJO’s activities and the development and mentoring of its young musicians.
