Thanks for visiting the Nottingham Youth Jazz Orchestra website.

Notts NYJO exists to enable young, talented local musicians to develop their shared interest, skill & enjoyment in playing & performing jazz. With an emphasis on live performance, NYJO players develop lots of practical life skills in addition to honing their musicianship and having a good time!

NYJO players gain excellent professional tuition and develop performance abilities, including improvisation, in weekly rehearsals and through gigs.  NYJO is friendly, well-focused & good fun - providing an environment where everyone learns from and supports one another!

We are honoured to have Nottingham born Tony Kofi as NYJO’s patron.  Tony is a legendary saxophonist of global stature and brings invaluable inspiration and mentoring contributions to NYJO.  Click here to go to Tony’s website.

Click here to read more about what NYJO has done since its formation in March 2008, including a Workshop with professional musician Snake Davis, lots of great gigs, competitions entered and a tour to Italy as part of its close association with the Nottingham Youth Orchestra.   See and hear Notts NYJO on You Tube.

There are many ways to be involved - as a player, audience member, friend and sponsor.  We look forward to you being involved - in whatever way.  We’d love to hear from you (email: carlbillson@yahoo.co.uk) and hope to meet at one of our gigs.
