More about NYJO on the Blog and You Tube

Notts NYJO exists to enable young, talented local musicians to develop their shared interest, skill & enjoyment in playing & performing jazz. With an emphasis on live performance, players develop lots of practical life skills in addition to honing their musicianship and having a good time!

Our musicians develop performance abilities, including improvisation, in weekly rehearsals and through gigs.  NYJO is friendly, well-focused & good fun - provides an environment of mutual learning and support!  The quality of music and the band’s enthusiasm  at gigs has been highly commended - for instance by national competition judges and appreciative gig organisers.

We are honoured to have Nottingham born Tony Kofi as NYJO’s patron.  Tony is a legendary saxophonist of global stature and brings invaluable inspiration and mentoring contributions to NYJO.  Click here to go to Tony’s website.

Another invaluable contributor to NYJO is Nottingham-based Clement Pianos, who work with us on workshops and provide sponsorship.

There are many ways to be involved - as a player, audience member, friend and sponsor.  We look forward to you being involved - in whatever way.  We’d love to hear from you (email: carlbillson@yahoo.co.uk) and hope to meet at one of our gigs.
