NYJO are delighted and honoured to have Tony Kofi as Patron.  Born in Nottingham, Tony is a multi-award winner including Best Instrumentalist at the 2008 BBC Jazz Awards, Best Ensemble at the 2005

Phil Smith is a talented musician, educator and long-time promoter of youth jazz in Nottinghamshire, most recently through the leadership he held of the Big Bands ‘Brassery’ & ‘Brassroots’.

Guest Tutor & Brass Player
Ben is a versatile musician, arranger and band leader.  He  has also been a long-time collaborator with NYJO’s musical director Phil Smith.  Both were prominent leaders in former Nottingham Youth
 
Hugh Pascall

Hugh was a member of both the NYO and Brassery, going on to study at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) and Paris Conservatoire.  He holds a Royal Academy teaching Diploma and was awarded the Scott
